Workshop: The Fundamentals of
Human-Centered Design

Design Thinking is a deeply human approach to innovation, that invites designers to join with the community of users in a co-design process.

In this interactive Design Thinking workshop, I will lead you through a whirlwind tour of the fundamental principles of design thinking with a bootcamp session where you can try out the process. We will travel the three phases of human-centered design; hear • create • deliver. we will learn the power of human-centered design, rapid prototyping, and iteration. In the second half of our bootcamp, we’ll focus on team collaborative skills. You’ll get to try out the brainstorming/ideation process in a whiteboard team innovation session. We’ll outline an ideal framework for fostering a culture of creativity and innovation in your organization. Innovation has rules. Learn to be an empowered steward of the creative space. Positivity is a creativity circuit maker, negativity is a creativity circuit breaker. Learn to replace win/lose systems with win/win systems.

Lisa Hoag, Artist, Designer, Design Thinking Facilitator.
Lisa Hoag is an award winning artist and designer with over 30 years of experience. She has a passion for creativity and innovative business models, and teaches workshops in transdisciplinary design principles, human-centered design thinking and collaborative team innovation. She holds a BFA in Fine Art, with honors from Parsons School of Design, in New York, and subsequently studied art and design in an arts residency in Paris for two years. She has worked extensively in a wide variety of different mediums. Since 1990, she has lived and worked in Western Mass, designing and creating artwork in her studio in Wendell, MA. In 2012, Lisa founded a transdisciplinary design organization which now comprises 160+ members, through which she has implemented many local community design initiatives and projects.
